This page contains useful links and information for people working on the ATLAS online software. These are mainly notes I made for myself because I kept getting confused and it was tedious to find the information.
For information about the actual ATLAS experiment go to http://atlasexperiment.org/
A very useful and up2date starting point for newbies is the Training package. It will help you get going with all the right scripts and so on. Start by reading the handout document for the current release(now 01-07-00, 01-08-00 is in testing)
HOWTOs and other documentation
IS user guide -- this is a more up to date version of the IS user guide.
CMT guide -- ATLAS online software uses CMT for package management. It is based on CVS and provides some tools to help with releases and such. CMT's homepage(not sure how useful it is)
Getting started
First thing to do is
$ source /afs/cern.ch/atlas/project/tdaq/cmt/bin/cmtsetup.sh tdaq-01-07-00
where tdaq-01-07-00 is the release you want to use. This will setup severale environment variables in the current shell. Nothing works if you do not do this.
